1. Scope and controller

This policy applies to the Afterly mobile application and this website. Afterly is provided by the Afterly team ("Afterly", "we", or "us"). The service is intended only for adults aged 18 or over and supports cities worldwide.

2. Data we collect

Account and profile

Email address, account identifier, sign-in time, display name, avatar, age range, manually selected city, interests, bio, and verification status where applicable.

Events and social content

Events you create, free signups, event status, attendance and cancellation history, group text messages, photos, voice messages, reviews, reports, blocks, appeals, notices, and related timestamps. Uploaded media may be stored as a private object and displayed through time-limited access links.

Purchases and digital services

Apple App Store product identifiers, transaction identifiers, purchase status, diamond credits, and optional digital event-boost orders. Diamonds are not used for event admission or offline goods and services. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Technical data

App version, operating system, device type, API errors, crash information, and basic service logs. We do not request location permission and do not read device GPS coordinates.

3. How we use data

  • Operate accounts, event discovery, publishing, free signup, group chat, reviews, and safety features.
  • Rank events by the city you selected, time, interests, availability, and distance from that city centre.
  • Deliver optional digital boosts, identify boosted events, and measure whether a boost is active.
  • Verify App Store purchases, prevent duplicate diamond crediting, and handle billing support.
  • Detect prohibited content, investigate reports, apply safety decisions, and process appeals.
  • Protect accounts, diagnose failures, and meet accounting and legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information and do not use your profile for personality-based advertising. A digital boost only affects ordering among otherwise eligible events and never guarantees impressions, signups, or attendance.

4. System permissions

Notifications

Requested for signup outcomes, event changes, chat, reminders, and safety notices. Denial does not hide in-app notices.

Camera and Photos

Requested only when you choose to capture or select an avatar, event cover, chat photo, review, or evidence image.

Microphone

Requested only when you choose to record a group voice message. Each recording is limited to 60 seconds.

Location

Not requested. You choose a city manually; distance is calculated from the selected city centre.

You can withdraw any granted permission in iOS Settings. Browsing and free event signup remain available without camera, photo, or microphone access.

5. Service providers and international processing

We use contracted cloud hosting, object storage, content delivery, push-notification, and Apple payment services. They receive only the data needed to perform their service and may not use it for unrelated purposes.

Data may be processed outside your country where our providers operate. We limit transferred fields, apply access controls, and use appropriate contractual safeguards where required. We disclose data when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service.

6. Retention and security

  • Account and profile data: while your account is active, then handled through account deletion.
  • Events and signups: up to 24 months after the event for safety, support, and record integrity.
  • App Store purchase and digital-boost records: up to 5 years where required for accounting, fraud prevention, and compliance.
  • Reports and enforcement evidence: up to 12 months after closure for appeal review.
  • Technical logs: up to 90 days.

After the applicable period, data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised. We use access controls, encrypted transport, restricted media access, and operational monitoring. No system can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You may view and correct your profile, manage permissions, request access to data you submitted, object to or restrict certain processing where applicable, and request account deletion directly in the app.

Account deletion takes effect immediately after confirmation. You are signed out, and the deleted account cannot be used to sign in again. Afterwards, account and profile data is deleted and past event records, group messages, and reviews are anonymised where they must remain for other participants or legal obligations. Unused diamonds are forfeited when deletion completes and cannot be exchanged for cash. App Store refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies.

8. User content, safety, and children

Group content is visible to people with access to the same event and may be reviewed when reported. Do not upload another person's sensitive information without permission. Afterly is not directed to children; if we learn that a person under 18 created an account, we will restrict and delete it as appropriate.

9. Policy changes

We may update this policy when features or laws change. The current version and effective date appear above. Material changes will be announced in the app and may require renewed agreement.

10. Contact us

For privacy questions, access requests, or deletion requests, email danishabarrow@icloud.com, visit our Support page, or submit a Privacy & data request through Profile > About & feedback. We aim to respond within 15 business days.
